Gene Page was born in Du Quoin, Illinois, home of the famous Du Quoin State Fair which brings visitors from all over the United States each year. He later relocated to the Bay Area and began working at an insurance company in San Francisco where he’d meet his future bride, Marian. Since both he and Marian worked for the same company Gene explains that, “one of us eventually had to quit”. Gene continued with the insurance company for many years and was eventually promoted to Vice President of Operations with a territory covering the eight western states. He retired after 49 years of dedicated service to his employer and Gene advises that young people should “try to attend college and work hard for your career.”
Gene and Marian married and welcomed three children into their family. Of his wife, Gene says, “I was married to my wonderful wife, Marian, for an amazing 59 years.” He is now the proud grandfather of twin grandchildren.
Gene enjoys living at Carlton Senior Living Fremont because of the friendships he’s made and the high quality meals. His favorite pastimes include Bingo and poker, and says what makes the activities more enjoyable is the companionship. Gene considers himself to be very friendly and loves meeting and talking with new people. He also enjoys gardening and LOVES to dance. Gene is thankful for his health and that he hasn’t had a cold in five years!
