Deacon was born in Cape Elizabeth Maine, a town of 1500. One of 6 children (5 boys and a girl) lost his mother at the age of 3 years old, attended local schools, worked on the farm locally to earn money to help grandmother who helped raise siblings. Walked 2.5 miles to school, had to! He used to milk two cows before going to school and the same two after school. In winter he used to ski to school and leave his skis with his best friend, “Doc” Hill. He used to participate in athletics, As per him his happiest day of his life was when he entered High School also that he had to shower each day after PE class. Resident Spotlight - Garold Sharp

Garold was born in December 1926 in the small town of Fredonia, Kansas, the towns population today barely reaches 2500. He met his beautiful wife Nancy in Elementary school while he was in the fifth grade and she in sixth. He and Nancy married just one month before his 21st birthday and bought their first house together. Nancy was a school teacher and Garold had jobs with the local rock quarry and in Wichita he learned craftsman trades. Resident Spotlight - Phyllis Smith

Phyllis was born in Burns, Wyoming and lived on a Farm near carpenter for 27 years. She attended the University of Wyoming and completed the studies at San Francisco State University. Her working career was 26 years as Grade School teacher in the Martinez School District. She has been retired for 31 years. After retirement, Phyllis and her husband Bill visited Canada, Mexico and all 50 states in a Trailer; they flew to Hawaii, no bridges to Hawaii! They visited many National Parks, several Historical Sites and attended Dixieland Jazz Festivals. Little Jimmy was born in St. Paul, MN on March 3, 1940, living in the Midwest for 22 years. Soon after graduating from Northern Iowa University,  I enlisted in the Officer Training Program of the US Air Force, becoming a Computer Officer. Robert “Bob” Good, Jr. was born on October 30, 1918, in Canton, Ohio to father Robert Charles, Sr. and mother Mary. His father worked in the steel industry in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a sales consultant, distributing information and insight as to how to improve steel products on a molecular and chemical level, and how to change its properties to become stronger, or stainless, for example. In the midst of the Second World War, Bob volunteered to get commission in radar and submarine school. There were 120 cadets in his class, and he held a class ranking of 13! Resident Spotlight - Audrey Shipley

Audrey Shipley was born in the small town of Frederick, South Dakota, population 250 people, twenty-five miles north of Aberdeen, on a very snowy, bitter-cold day in March 1919. The snow was so deep, that the highway and roads were blocked, but the doctor in Frederick called the surgeon in Aberdeen, and asked him for assistance. The surgeon knew that the daily local train had already passed through town, so he placed his car on the railroad tracks, and he and his Red Cross nurse drove along them for nearly 25 miles to reach the Howell home! Resident Spotlight - Dick Morrill

Dick Morill is originally from the city of Bristow located in Creek County, Oklahoma. He enjoys playing pinochle, cribbage, bridge and many other card games.Dick is excited to share a horse racing game he made with his Carlton neighbors called Derby Days. He created the horse derby game and ran it at the Morgan Hill Senior Center for years and thinks everyone will have a lot of fun playing it. Dick has also volunteered with the Helping Hearts and he is a great addition to the Carlton Senior Living San Jose community.

Bakersfield native and Oakland adopted son, William T. “Bill” Larkins, has been photographing aircraft for over 75 years and is the founder of the American Aviation Historical Society. He is also the author or co-author of nine books on the subject of aviation history and his unique collection of photos can be found on numerous websites. Bill continues to assemble information that will allow for the complete and correct identification of the aircraft in the photos he has taken and collected and is a featured photography of the East Bay Hills Project.
