infused-waterWe have discussed the importance of senior hydration many different times before – but drinking nothing but plain water can be rather boring for any senior. These infused water recipes are going to encourage your aging loved one to stay hydrated the fun way!

Infused Water Recipes

The reason that making your own flavored water is so great is because it is a natural way to stay hydrated, but it is also nutritious, easy, fresh, and all-natural. We wanted to share a few of our favorite infused water recipes:

Orange and Blueberry

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • A handful of blueberries
  • 2 mandarin oranges, cut into wedges
  • 6 cups of water

Directions:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a single pitcher and let the water infuse for around 24 hours.
  • If you want to intensify the flavor, muddle the blueberries and squeeze the juice of one mandarin orange.
  • Make sure to serve chilled.

Berry, Peach & Coconut

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened natural coconut water
  • 6 cups filtered or spring water
  • 2 doughnut peaches, pitted and cut into wedges (about a half-inch)
  • 1 cup organic blackberries
  • 1 cup organic blueberries

Directions:

  • The blackberries and blueberries go onto the bottom, with the peach slices on top.
  • Pour in the coconut water and spring water. Stir the water and make sure that you leave the water overnight for the best flavor.

Orange, Strawberry & Mint

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces filtered water
  • 1/2 orange, sliced
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint

Directions:

  • Place all the herbs and fruits in a jar
  • Fill to the brim with water
  • Make sure to seal the jar and leave overnight for best results

Cucumber Lavender Mixer

Ingredients:

  • 2 quarts filtered or spring water
  • 2 fresh lavender sprigs or 1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced

Directions:

  • Add the lavender and cucumbers to a pitcher or Mason jar.
  • Add the filtered water, make sure to strain before serving if you use dried lavender.
  • Make sure that you leave it in the fridge until it is cold and enjoy!

Pineapple Ginger Delight

Ingredients:

  • 2 quarts filtered or spring water
  • 1-inch piece ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple pieces (crush if you want a sweeter taste)

Directions:

  • Add the ginger and the pineapple to a pitcher or Mason jar.
  • Pour the water over the top and make sure that refrigerate until cold. Serve over ice.
