As Director of First Impressions, Suzette Marco enjoys being the first point of contact for residents, families and visitors walking through the front door at Carlton Senior Living in Concord. She always has a smile on her face and is eager to answer any questions she’s asked.
“My job really suits my personality,” Marco said. “I am a bubbly person and I love making people happy.”
Marco first came to Carlton Senior Living in Concord as a caregiver in February 2013. Her mother started working at the community as a caregiver in 2012 and had introduced Marco to some of the residents and associates. It wasn’t long before she t right in with the community.
“When I started as a caregiver, I became good friends with one of the retirement counselors, Alyson Lipston,” Marco said. “I was doing things like helping with residents’ laundry, ironing and grocery shopping, but I wanted to do even more. I just love being there for the residents and helping them in any way I can.”
Lipston was so impressed with Marco’s care that she asked if she would like to work at the front desk as a Director of First Impressions in November 2014. Marco jumped at the opportunity.
Though she is no longer a caregiver, Marco still finds time to engage with the residents by leading an arts and crafts group each week and participating in various community activities when she can.
“The thing I noticed about Carlton Senior Living is that it isn’t just a home for old people,” Marco said. “We’re all family here. I spend most of my day here, and I have become close with so many of the residents. They really are like family to me and it makes my day to be there for them.”
