After hearing good things about Carlton Senior Living in Fremont from a friend who worked there, Meghian Geul knew she wanted to work there, too. She was first hired in 2007 to work in the dining room serving residents.
“It’s a really great place to work because it makes you a better person,” Geul said. “The residents are so grateful. Working in that role made me want to work harder to make sure they had everything they needed.”
Geul recalled a time a resident was getting out of surgery at 7:30 p.m. He had no one to pick him up, so Geul made sure she was at the hospital when he was released. “He was so thankful when I picked him up,” Geul said. “It made me feel good for him to know we were there when he needed us.”
Geul worked in the dining room for six years before becoming a prep cook in 2013. A year later, she transferred to the front desk to work as the Director of First Impressions, and in June 2015, she was promoted to Associate Director.
“I became responsible for payroll and employee benefits. I enjoy helping my coworkers because we work together really well and complement each other.”
Despite her new position being oriented toward managing and encouraging staff, Geul said she still takes time to walk the community and visit with residents.
“At the end of the day, the residents are why we’re here,” Geul said. “We’re here to make sure they are taken care of.”
