Associates on the Move – Anthony Aquino

anthony-aquinoLike a lot of students in the first year of college, Anthony Aquino had no idea what he wanted to study, but a conversation with a classmate’s husband inspired him to look into senior care.

“He taught first aid at Carlton Senior Living and the way he talked about his job made an impression on me,” Aquino said. “I didn’t know anything about the company, but I thought it would be a good place to work.”

At 19 years old, Aquino was hired as a personal care giver at Carlton Senior Living Poet’s Corner. He was responsible for feeding residents, making sure their daily needs were met and incontinence care. Aquino said working in this position is what made him the man he is today.

“At the end of the day, knowing that I helped the residents get through their day by taking care of their needs, it was more than just a paycheck,” Aquino said.

Aquino spent three years working part time as a personal care giver while he finished college. He graduated from the American College of Nursing in 2010 and earned his nursing license the following year.

When a position opened in 2012, Aquino was hired as a licensed vocational nurse. In March 2016, he became the memory care director.

“There is a whole lot of reward working here that a typical job just doesn’t offer,” Aquino said. “I’m looking forward to the future.”
